Maxim DS28E38 Secure Authenticator | Digi-Key Daily

Maxim’s DS28E38 is a cost-effective public key-based secure authenticator using Maxim’s ChipDNA physically unclonable function to authenticate IoT nodes, medical sensors, consumables, and other peripherals. ChipDNA uses the manufacturing variation of the IC to generate the private key on demand, so it never resides in memory and any attempt to probe or observe the operation will disturb the physical properties of the IC and alters its output. The DS28E38 uses this to provide a set of crypto tools, including ECDSA signature generation, a true random number generator, a 2 kbit secured EEPROM, a 17-bit decrement-only counter, and a unique 64-bit ID that is an input for crypto functions and an address for the 1-Wire interface.
