3-Wire 70 mm Lithium-Ion Battery

Jauch Quartz's LI21700JSV-50 lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery has an integrated electronic circuit mounted on the bare cell. This circuit protects the battery against common dangers, such as overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit/overcurrent, and temperature. Protected Li-ion batteries are recommended for use mainly in consumer applications such as flashlights, bike lights, lanterns, table vents, and electronic toys; however, they are also an ideal choice for medical devices. Protected batteries are less likely to ignite and cause personal or property damage.

The LI21700JSV-50 battery has an integrated PTC, which protects the battery against overheating and overcurrent. It has a pressure valve [charge interrupt device (CID)] which regulates the battery’s internal pressure. Unprotected batteries do not have this electronic circuit in the cell packing, and because of this, they have a little more capacity and current capability than a protected cell. However, there is always a danger of overheating, short-circuiting, or overdischarging without a safety circuit.
