Latching Lithium Coin Battery Retainers

MPD retainers offer excellent performance versus competing designs and at a very low acquisition cost. These features make them particularly suitable for consumer products, handheld devices, RFID, Bluetooth, and other price-sensitive applications. The lithium battery retainer has easy leads to solder and is made of nickel-plated phosphor bronze. Phosphor bronze offers superb spring qualities with good elasticity, high fatigue and corrosion resistance, wide temperature range, excellent solderability, and is nonmagnetic (nickel is magnetic). Its bifurcated contacts are optimized to keep a tight connection with the battery and have low electrical resistance. Shock and vibration resistance per EIA-364 assures designers of trouble-free use in coin cell applications. In this design, cells are easily changed without tools or instructions with simple coin cell exchanges. BK-920 for CR2032 cells is compact at 24.9 mm by 19.3 mm by <3.6 mm (LWH). MPD’s coin cell retainers require a conductive pad located on the PC board surface directly beneath the battery to create a contact point for the battery’s negative terminal.
