TDK Haptics
TDK’s PowerHap™ and PiezoHapt™ piezo actuators with haptic feedback deliver the sense of touch through vibration or other mechanical motion. Haptic feedback significantly enhances the sensory experience of the human machine interface by engaging the full range of human tactile sensitivity. Thanks to their fast response time, PowerHap and PiezoHapt can also save power compared to conventional solutions and are ideal components for providing haptic feedback to user actions in the displays of smartphones and tablets, automotive, medical and other display interface applications.

PiezoHapt™ Product Features
Various industries are starting to embrace the technology of haptics – interaction via sense of touch – and their interests and needs for haptic feedback are growing day by day.
TDK’s PiezoHapt™ actuators are ultrathin vibration units, capable of realizing such needs. Each PiezoHapt™ actuator is comprised of a multilayer piezoelectric element and a vibration plate, and its body is thinner than other existing vibrators such as eccentric motors. PiezoHapt™ actuators can operate with low voltage and deliver tactile sensation to a wide area in a very fast response. With this product, you can create countless vibration patterns as amplitude can be freely changed by pulse control. PiezoHapt™ can be used in any device that requires haptic feedback including wearable devices, touchpads, displays and controllers.

PowerHap™ Product Features
The PowerHap™ piezo actuator with haptic feedback and integrated sensor functionality offers unrivalled performance in terms of acceleration, force and response time, and thus offers an unprecedented quality of haptic feedback. PowerHap™ is based on multilayer piezo plates with cost-effective copper inner electrodes.
Unlike conventional electromagnetic solutions PowerHap™ actuators can excite the entire stimulation range between 1 Hz and 1000 Hz. They thus have no significant frequency or amplitude limitations for customized haptic feedback to key human mechanoreceptors. Applications for the PowerHap™ can be found, for example, in vehicles, smartphones and tablets, household appliances, ATMs and vending machines, game controllers, industrial equipment and medical devices.
