These benefits include better performance and reliability as well as ease-of-use and overall simplicity when incorporating movement into a design. IR thermopiles also allow ambient temperature readings to be factored-in, thus providing greater accuracy and temperature control.

Thermopiles are mainly used for contactless temperature measurement in many applications. Their function is to transfer the heat radiation emitted from the objects into a voltage output.
