Dual Protocol Over Shared Data Lines

This presentation will introduce the SP338 and SP339 dual protocol transceivers with integrated termination. While the RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 serial standards are hardly new, combining them over a single connector creates challenges that were unforeseen when these standards were first drafted years ago. A number of pitfalls exist that can trip up even an experienced designer, and some may not even be noticed until field failures occur. This presentation will provide an overview of the challenges, and show how MaxLinear's SP338 and SP339 products solve them.
